Boudoir photography is not just a photoshoot, it is a path for self-discovery and confidence. This niche type of photography both highlights and embraces a woman’s beauty. It started around the 1920s in France as a way for women to celebrate themselves. Although it was rather taboo back then, it is now largely celebrated in many circles, and boudoir photography is now a new form of expression.

Jill Marie Scruggs of One Soul Boudoir, along with her husband and business partner, David, work as an amazing photography team. Their main goal is to amaze and empower their clients. At One Soul Boudoir, not only do clients have the opportunity to take beautiful photos, but they’re also treated to a unique and intimate experience. Afterward, there is a viewing with wine and cheese to celebrate not only your photos but also your new confidence.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Jill and David about their passion, which turned into their full-time life and business. Keep reading to find out how you can have the most wonderful photography experience.

 What is One Soul Boudoir?

Our Boutique boudoir photography studio in Marietta focuses on delivering a fulfilling personal experience for each client as we fashion breathtaking, intimate photos that celebrate who she is as a woman and what makes her beautiful.

To ensure our success, we begin molding her new confidence before her session ever begins. We invest in an up-front, in-person consultation that allows us to bond, understand her insecurities, emotional needs, and expectations. This helps to reassure her of knowing that we'll guide her through every step to create amazing photos. We also use that time for some wardrobe planning as well.

All this groundwork virtually guarantees that she'll arrive excited, and only a little nervous, about her adventure outside her comfort zone. We send each client home exhilarated, excited to come back for their private wine-and-cheese reveal party, where they see their photos for the first time and choose an art collection to memorialize their experience.

How did One Soul Boudoir start?

I began as a model for David's editorial photography at fun locations around the Southeast of the United States. I soon became his muse, and over time became more than a model as we collaborated on ideas for shoots, and David continued to teach me the photography and editorial side of things. I fell in love with the line of work and decided to move on from having photography as a hobby and turn it into my lifelong passion. I joined him as his photography partner under the brand One Soul Photography, and we began to cover weddings together. Our passion for boudoir arose from offering boudoir sessions and albums to our brides and grooms as gifts.
