With the summer driving season fast approaching, it's always best to lessen needless encounters that could impede your plans. There are simple ways to approach safe driving, and to mitigate the suspicions of law enforcement by default. Deservedly so, a vehicle needs to be in good working order and traffic stops look to enforce this if you're not being mindful of working and intact headlights and taillamps, for example. Those are easy targets. Here's what you can do:
- Make a habit of inspecting your vehicle before setting off, no matter how long or short the trip. Simply walk around your vehicle looking for body issues, cracked windscreens and an undercarriage free of entanglements.
- Nighttime is valuable in making sure headlights and taillamps are emitting significant light. As well, any cracks or damage to casing integrity will be noticed immediately.
A vehicle in good order will prove a worthy undertaking.
