Last weekend, the brand new 2018 Audi R8 V10 plus Spyder made its US debut at the Monterey Car Week in California. From Thursday August 17th through Sunday August 20th, motor enthusiasts from all over to country journeyed to California to see the newest and greatest vehicles of the motorsports world. Throughout the weekend, Audi displayed many of their top track-tested performance sports vehicles as well as unveiling the brand new 2018 Audi R8 V10 plus Spyder.

This event marked the first US appearance of the new R8 V10 plus Spyder, and gave car lovers the chance to get up close and personal with this ferocious convertible. The R8 V10 plus Spyder is a member of the recently launched Audi Sport Line, and is heavily influenced by a number of Audi’s fantastic track vehicles. The naturally-aspirated 5.2 liter V10 engine, straight from the Audi R8 LMS racecar, is paired beautifully with a 7-speed S-tronic dual clutch transmission and creates a mind-boggling amount of power. A staggering 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds, top speed of 203.8 mph, and 610 hp makes the new R8 V10 plus Spyder the fastest Audi convertible ever put into production.

The new R8 wasn’t the only Audi vehicle that could be seen this weekend. In fact, several of the track vehicles that inspired the R8 were on display including the Audi R8 LMS GT3, RS5, and the R8 LMS GT4. Many of the same Audi racing components used in these vehicles can be found in the new R8 Spyder, making this remarkable sports car a force to be reckoned with on both the track and the road. Audi even offered an exclusive experience for VIP guests, where drivers could get behind the wheel of the new R8 Spyder on the famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
