While generally luxury vehicles are known as more expensive, there is no reason they can't be affordable. Take Audi and Mercedes-Benz, for example. Audi recently said that the next-generation Audi A3 sedan will have a starting price of $29,900, which is the same sticker price as the new Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class.
Mercedes-Benz has been heavily advertising and promoting the CLA-Class for months now, making sure to show how affordable it is. And, though some in the automotive industry have questioned if this move could devalue such a (normally) pricey, luxury brand, Mercedes-Benz is excited to introduce a more attainable automobile. This strategy has made the CLA-Class a popular model, and Audi is in line to follow suit.
Audi has gotten a little feisty with its competitor, too. When speaking of how the models stack up, Scott Keogh, Audi of America President states, “We have a screen that’s as thin as an iPhone, fully retractable coming out of the dash, made of magnesium — a stunning piece of engineering. What they put on? You can debate it, but it’s basically just a rubber piece screwed on a screen, and the screen’s just sitting on the dash. . . "1
While a little friendly competition won't hurt, Audi is sure it's affordable luxury model is the right one to purchase.
